ABOUT: Cometessa: A Dynamic Journey in the Entertainment Industry
My name is Cometessa (pronounced Come-Tes-Sa), and I have been a vibrant force in the entertainment music industry for over 25 years. My journey began as a DJ coming from a family of musicians, my father was a well known Haitian artist in one of the top bands in Haiti, my mother played professional piano so did I and my brother professional pianist got into competition in piano school with other pianist. Throughout my journey I became a promoter for numerous record labels introduced to my by OG FANTUM. Eventually established our own street team in NYC titled at the time DNV Promotions, thanks to OG Fantum, Artist/Producer of B.E.B Entertainment for opening that door for me. My passion for the industry led me to wear many hats, including freelance photographer, videographer, promoter, and in-store props coordinator for artist signings. These roles opened doors to several high-profile gigs, including videography for A-list celebrities like Lil' Kim, coverage of the three-day Billboard event in NYC, and numerous VIP events. I was often ahead of the curve, always the girl with the large Panasonic VHS camera, capturing moments that would become part of my unique brand. From the early 1990s, I continued promoting for major record labels such as Violator Records, Atlantic Records, Jive, Milk Promotions, Karl Kani, and Skittles. I worked backstage on the "Up N Smoke Tour," with artists like BIG Pun, Notorious BIG, and Lil' Kim until the year 2000. Post-9/11, the music industry's landscape shifted, and the promotional and marketing strategies transformed significantly. Despite these changes, I continued to adapt and innovate.
In 2005, I realized a long-held vision by launching my own TV show on BCAT Public Access Television, now known as BRIC Arts Media. This marked the birth of Plugme TV, followed by Plugme Radio. As the host and producer of Plugme TV, I utilized my extensive industry contacts to feature notable personalities such as OG Fantum, DJ Rad, DJ Kid Capri, and many more. Plugme TV covered car shows, community events, and fashion shows, establishing itself as a prominent platform. My journey also included a three-year stint as an on-air personality for WLIB NY 91.5 FM from 2000 to 2003. This experience inspired me to start Plugme Radio, which quickly became a recognizable brand thanks to the support of OG Fantum and our collaborative efforts in promotions and marketing.
Fast forward to 2007, I launched a live radio show under the Plugme Radio brand. Despite life’s challenges, I remained committed to my vision, returning to the airwaves from 2011 to 2019 and again from 2022 to 2023. I also lent my voice to various businesses through voice-over work. Throughout my career, I faced opportunities that required compromising my dignity, which I steadfastly refused. My self-respect and principles always came first. Now, in 2024, Plugme TV is back on Public Access Television with BRIC Arts Media, where I own and produced three TV shows. Additionally, I have returned to one of my passions, that I started back in 1997 DJing, as DJ Cometessa, blending genres like Amapiano, Haitian Kompa, Hip Hop, R&B and Reggae.
Plugme TV & Plugme Radio continue to bring audiences comedy, music, talent showcases, business spotlights, and interviews with urban book authors. My goal is not to reinvent the wheel but to bring a unique and fresh perspective to the industry. Beyond entertainment, I have ventured into independent film as an investor, managing distribution for films through our company AMG, which can get movies onto 150 platforms.
FITNESS: My fitness apparel brand, L.I.F365 (Live It Fitness365), has appeared in music videos and will soon be featured in movies. I am also an activist for Haiti, working tirelessly to bridge gaps and improve the lives of my people. My mission is to save humanity and provide better opportunities for others. If you support my work, please stand with the Haitian community and contribute to our cause. For collaborations or inquiries about movie scripts and distribution, feel free to reach out to me. Together, we can create and share powerful stories.
